The Guangdong Food and Packaging Machinery Association (GDFPMA) was approved for establishment in 1992 by the Provincial Civil Affairs Department (No.0690 of the Guangdong Social Certificate). It is an industry organization and a legal entity recognized by society, spanning multiple departments across the province. The association represents food machinery, packaging machinery, and related upstream and downstream enterprises. Composed voluntarily by various enterprises, research institutes, universities, and relevant associations within the industry, it has over 300 corporate members, almost encompassing all leading enterprises in this sector within Guangdong Province, such as Guangzhou Dayilong Packaging Machinery Co., Ltd., Guangdong Dongfang Precision Technology Co., Ltd., Guangdong Jinming Precision Machinery Co., Ltd., Guangzhou Wanshide Intelligent Equipment Technology Co., Ltd., Guangzhou Fama Jia Intelligent Equipment Co., Ltd., Guangdong Light Industry Machinery Factory No.2 Co., Ltd., and Guangdong Yuedong Machinery Industry Co., Ltd., among others.

The purpose of the  Association is to operate under the guidance of relevant government departments, abide by the national constitution, laws and regulations, and social morals, and implement national policies: to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests and common economic benefits of enterprises and institutions in this industry, with the aim of promoting industry development, serving members and industry units wholeheartedly.  To facilitate communication between members and the government, society, actively reflecting the situation and aspirations of the industry to the government, and serving as a bridge and link between industry enterprises and the government.

The  Association has actively organized various service activities over the years, such as industry technical exchanges and seminars, application and evaluation of industry technology projects, intellectual property applications, formulation and revision of industry standards, recognition of famous trademarks and brand-name products, participation in various appraisal meetings, acceptance meetings, and outcome evaluations, involvement in bidding processes, training activities, foreign affairs, exhibition events, editing and publishing information journals, and providing information consulting services.  The association maintains business ties with domestic and international industry organizations.  Since 1991, the association has annually held or participated in national and international industry exhibitions in Guangzhou, assisting enterprises in expanding their markets both domestically and internationally. It has become an influential trade fair and technical exchange event for the industry in South China, widely welcomed by professionals and people from all walks of life.

 The packaging industry in Guangdong is one of the fastest-growing industries in the country and a pillar industry for Guangdong Province, ranking second or third nationally. Some products have a market share of 15-50% in the domestic market. Therefore, the association's role in the economic development of both the national and provincial levels is extremely important.  The association has been invited by government departments such as the Provincial Economic and Information Commission, Development and Reform Commission, and Science and Technology Department to participate in research, review, and acceptance work on the structural adjustment and planning of the equipment industry in Guangdong, the application for high-end equipment innovation projects, the implementation of the "Made in China 2025" development plan, industrial robots, integration of informatization and industrialization demonstration projects, provincial local standards, and the formulation and revision of industry standards.
